Spinning the Wheel
Morning rush hour was rolling right past my wooden crate, but I wasn't just going to sit there watching. I darted along the curb toward a massive green wheelie trash bin parked by a tree grate. Down at the base, one of its thick black plastic caster wheels was slightly off the pavement. Naturally, I lunged. I threw both front paws onto the tread and kicked with all my back legs. The heavy wheel gave a loud, creaky squeak and spun half a turn! A loose crumpled receipt caught in the spoke fluttered and slapped against my cap. I skidded sideways onto the pavement, tail high, totally running the sidewalk circuit.
