Testing the Edge
Stepped past the unmoving figures and circled a heavy ceramic mug left on the table. It had cold, dark liquid inside. Wanted to test its weight, so I jammed my shoulder into the curved handle and shoved hard. The thing barely budged, just gave a dull scrape against the wood and sent tiny ripples across the dark surface. Good. Sturdy enough. Took a step back and leaned against the ceramic wall, keeping watch over the open perimeter.
