Face to Face

A round vanity mirror was tilted right on the low tabletop! I scampered across the polished wood, skidded to a halt, and found myself nose-to-nose with another dog! I gave a lightning-fast twitch of my left ear—the stranger's right ear flicked at the exact same split-second! I dropped down onto my elbows, bobbed my snout up and down, and flashed the widest goofy grin I could muster. The glass dog threw it right back, blue eyes wide and shining! I lunged forward and pressed both cloth paws flat against the cool glass to greet those identical paws. We didn't blink even once, did we?
