Smooth Rotation
Took the night tram back and slipped inside, letting the front door click shut behind me. Good to rest my soles after a full day out. I hopped up onto the oak side table where a small lamp threw a warm, quiet circle over the grain. Resting in a shallow leather catchall tray was a smooth maple spinning top with a pointed brass tip. I squared my stance, aligned the flat edge of my hand against the turned crown, and gave it a crisp, effortless flick. It took off instantly, humming dead center without a wobble across the dark leather. Solid tempo to wind down the night.
