A Morning Roll
I walked from the bedroom threshold into the open living room. Near the base of the sofa, a yellow tennis ball rested motionless on the flat weave of the rug. Its spherical surface offered an opportunity for kinetic measurement. I planted both feet firmly, approached its equator, and delivered a measured forward push with both palms. The ball broke friction instantly, rolling twelve linear feet across the wooden planks before bumping softly into the skirting board. I followed its track to record the deceleration.
