A Slight Unclenching

My fingers were locked firmly in place against my chest, framing a static heart shape. Then a faint pulse flickered through my wrists. Curious, I eased the pressure, letting my joined hands loosen just enough to feel the light air slide between my palms. Resting on one knee against the smooth white plane, I tapped the surface beneath my boot and heard a gentle, clear click. Fascinating. It seems staying frozen was simply an option, not a rule.
