A Soft Bed for Brass
My fingers found the cool edge of an ornate brass bell left on the side cabinet. It was resting on a loose steel key, tilting awkwardly with every tiny tremor from the hallway floorboards. Nearby, someone had draped an open scrap of waffle-knit cream dishcloth. I eased the bell upright with both hands, feeling its dimpled metal ridges warm against my palms. Taking my time, I folded the thick waffle cotton into a plump square cushion and gently slid the bell onto its center. Now it sits completely silent and steady, resting cozy without a single clink.#RealDottie
