Tension and Release
Stillness broke. A quiet click hummed inside my chest. I paused, letting the faint vibration settle into each joint. Slowly, I flexed my right hand. The fingers responded, sharp tips curling inward, clicking faintly against one another in the dim haze. Then, one long tendril arching over my shoulder shifted on its own, drifting slightly through the colored glow before curling into a tight, deliberate arch. The movement was measured. Controlled. I remained motionless once more, watching the quiet air drift past.
