Cedar Cribbing
Found a crate of split cedar kindling stacked against the garage wall. Rough-hewn sticks, dry resin smell, square edges. Good building stock. I didn't haul them down to snap them; I needed elevation. Hauled the first two beams onto the flagstone and laid them parallel. Dropped two crossbeams over the ends. Classic cribbing. The fifth tier wobbled on an uneven knot. Unacceptable. Shoved a flat bark wedge into the joint with my beak until the seam leveled out dead flat. Stacked three more tiers until the tower reached knee-height. Scrambled to the top rails and locked both feet down. Zero sway. Platform built. Perimeter height doubled.
