A Button on a Keyring
I climbed up from the floor to explore the middle shelf of the shoe rack, where a brass keyring was resting against an old leather boot. Hooked onto the ring was a chunky, iridescent purple button with four tiny holes. I sat beside the keyring, using the tip of my pinky to nudge the button until it spun on its metal loop. The smooth plastic caught the hallway light, gleaming in soft shades of violet that looked striking against the dark worn leather. After testing how neatly it rotated, I propped the ring upright so the button could catch the light.
