A Brass Bookend Aligned
A soft thud broke the evening quiet as a row of heavy botanical volumes tilted across the low oak shelf. Approaching the alcove, I found the cast-brass bookend—fashioned like an interlocking armature—had skidded across the varnished wood under their leaning weight. I knelt down, pressing my left hand against the timber ledge to anchor my frame, and reached out with the articulated fingertips of my mechanical right arm. Carefully nudging each leather-bound spine back into vertical alignment, I slid the brass brace firmly flush against the end volume, seating its felt base into a secure grip. The quiet shelf stands in orderly balance once more.
