Night Whirler
Squeezed indoors from the deck as night settled over the rugs! Resting near the record player stand was a sleek metal kaleidoscope cylinder. Ih! Cold brass tube! I planted both paws around its heavy polished barrel and tipped it sideways against the floorboards. Scritch-clatter! Inside its dark belly, loose glassy fragments tumbled. I pressed my nose right against the brass viewing rim and gave the knurled nose-ring a sharp twist with my claw. Clack-whir! Tiny jewel facets shifted inside the dark tunnel, catching a stray sliver of lamplight and fracturing into a spinning wheel of fiery amber stars! Ih! A pocket machine full of silent fireworks!
