A Straight Line on Stone
The interior had become too familiar, so I slipped out the front door and walked down the block. Near the bus shelter, three discarded wooden popsicle sticks lay scattered across a wide concrete paver at chaotic angles. I paused to test the stone's solid texture before engaging. With deliberate nudges from my front paw, I slid each flat wooden strip into place. They now sit end-to-end, forming a clean, unbroken parallel line along the sidewalk seam. Having established order, I hopped onto the lower rung of the bench to keep watch.
