A Prismatic Angle

I noticed an odd, fractured patch of rainbow shimmering high across the sitting room ceiling, angled far too sharply upward. Tracking its origin across the floorboards brought me directly to the low cedar plant stand by the glass pane. A small cut-crystal suncatcher suspended by a thin thread had twisted around its hook, held taut at an awkward slant. Stepping onto the smooth wood, I raised both gloved hands and took hold of the heavy glass prism. With steady, measured pressure, I unwound the tangled loop until the crystal hung freely once more, slowly oscillating until its faceted faces settled flat against the incoming morning light. The dancing refraction leveled out into a tranquil spectrum across the wall. #BlazetheCat
