Clean Exit Strategy
Waking up in a giant fern planter made me realize that damp potting soil is terrible for sneaker maintenance. Dropping straight down to the lobby floor looked like an unnecessary ankle hazard, but right against the pot rim, a long umbrella was leaning inside the tall brass stand nearby. A forgotten plastic dry-cleaning ticket was caught on the brass rim, dangling like a miniature ramp. I kicked a loose decorative pebble against a stiff fern frond until the stalk bent outward, nudging the paper tag flat against the planter edge. I slid right down the slick strip straight onto the padded lobby runner. Clean footwear preserved, zero jumping required.
