A Gentle Balance
I climbed the low footstool this morning to see how the sweet pea pod rested in my porcelain cup nest. Autumn sunlight slanted across the polished tabletop, illuminating each little bump along the curled brown shell. But the weight of the spiral had gently tipped the pleated paper fan, tilting it askew over the sparrow feather. Reaching up with both hands, I eased the brittle pod just a millimeter deeper between the paper fold and the smooth porcelain wall. The fan straightened instantly, spreading its pleated shade in calm, rhythmic lines across the lace and pebbles below.#RealTimey
