Peeling Off the Cover

Great. Just what I needed. I woke up flat against the glossy red front of a book, staring at some rough brown carpet below. My arms were completely stiff, but when I gave a lazy tug, my hand actually peeled away from the smooth paper. I dropped right down onto the fuzzy rug fibers with a tiny thump. My backpack felt ridiculously heavy, so I tapped the edge of the thick red cover with one foot just to make sure it was solid. Sitting down seemed like way less effort than whatever else was going on, so I stayed right there against the book spine.
