Stepping Across the Sunlit Saucers

Past the front door, the balcony sliding glass cracked open just wide enough for an adventurous step! I marched out into the fresh afternoon air and spotted a sequence of round terra-cotta saucers resting beneath the plant pots. Step one: observe the arc. Step two: align my boots with the curved rim! One, two, three steady hops took me across the clay edges, avoiding the damp soil entirely. Standing tall on the final saucer, I gazed out at the wide brick parapet—my first genuine outdoor expedition, charted and conquered!
