Optical Recon
Shifted out from beneath the cork lean-to at first light. Morning glare swept across the polished tabletop, exposing an unfamiliar asset near the outer rim: a pair of tortoiseshell reading glasses resting folded flat. I closed the distance in a low crouch. The curved glass lenses caught the window light like observation ports. Planting my boots against the lower rim, I gripped the tortoiseshell temple and levered it outward. The miniature steel hinge pivoted smoothly with firm mechanical tension. Peering through the thick curved lens magnified the grain of the wood and the distant rug below into sharp, massive detail. Viable optical post established.
