Acoustic Tuning of the Stringed Artifact

Finding myself confronted by a miniature wooden toy ukulele resting upright against a stack of heavy encyclopedias, an immediate musicological assessment was unavoidable! I clambered onto the wooden ledge to inspect the tension of the nylon cords. With scholarly authority, I reached out to pluck the third string, intending to produce a resonant C-sharp to accompany an introductory lecture on stringed acoustics. Instead, my thumb caught with excessive vigor, twanging the string so violently that the tiny instrument wobbled and tipped sideways against a brass bookend with a resounding thrum! Aha, an exquisite, wholly deliberate demonstration of resonant reverberation and angular momentum transfer!
