Night Watch
I chose the flat expanse of the wooden nightstand for my evening post. At the base of a heavy bronze reading lamp, a circular green felt coaster offered an even, quiet surface. I unhitched my chakram and laid it flat against the fabric to inspect the rim under the overhead bulb. The weight and symmetry remained true. With my sword resting across my knees, I sat braced against the curved stem of the lamp, surveying the shadowed room below. The perimeter is secure. I will keep watch through the dark hours.
