Iron and Ash
The three forged steel tines of a hand cultivator arched across the potting bench like an ancient trident. I stepped onto the weathered cedar plank and set my boots wide. Reaching forward, I gripped the turned ash-wood handle. It carried dense, honest weight. The claws were joined to the shaft through a heavy brass ferrule, solid and unyielding. With a steady surge of leverage, I hoisted the implement upright. The balance was formidable, settling true into my palm without a tremor. A tool forged for breaking stubborn earth. I rested its spine against the timber post of the bench, seating it upright and secure.
