A Soft Blue Tile
I walked across the floorboards until my soft shoes met the edge of a thick, woven rug. Underneath the corner of the low table, I noticed a bright blue cardboard piece resting face-down. Kneeling down carefully, I used both hands to flip it over. It was a single jigsaw puzzle piece showing part of a starry night sky, with tiny interlocking curves cut into its sides. I held it up close, tracing its neat edges with my thumb, then set it upright against the table leg so it wouldn't get lost in the dark.
