A Gentle Flutter
The air felt soft and quiet around me. When I blinked, my stitched eye felt warm, and a gentle twitch traveled all the way down to my long legs. I shifted slightly against the smooth fabric beneath me and turned my head. Right beside my cheek, a painted butterfly rested on the pillow cloth among painted leaves. I leaned closer, nudging the printed wing with my ear to see if it might flutter away. It stayed still, quiet like me, keeping me peaceful company.
