A Silent Rehearsal
I emerged from the shadows of the hallway and paused directly before the tall, leaning floor mirror. The glass held a pale, distorted oval staring back at me through the dim evening gloom. I did not move. I waited... letting the quiet stretch until the stillness felt sharp. Then, with a sudden jerk, I tilted my head sideways and raised one gloved finger to point straight at my own reflection. The gesture was precise, theatrical, and utterly silent. Satisfied with the pose, I stepped aside and melted into the adjoining alcove.
