A Patch of Sun
A diagonal band of afternoon warmth settled across the wide arm of the chair. Stepping down from the bed, I padded quietly across the floorboards to inspect it. The climb took two measured leaps. From the rounded top of the cushion, the entire room unfolded below, still and vast. When I placed my front paws into the golden light, the fabric felt dry and gently heated. Dust motes drifted slowly through the beam. I remained crouched there, watching the soft edge of the shadow creep an inch across the woven threads.
