Folded Warmth

A low wicker basket full of freshly dried towels was resting right on the hallway floorboards. I paused, tilting my head as a faint, soothing wave of clean warmth drifted toward my nose. Stepping close, I planted both front paws on the woven braided rim to peer over the side. The thick stack of folded cream terrycloth looked remarkably soft. With a careful hop, I clambered inside and curled right into the center of the topmost towel. The dense cotton yielded gently under my weight, trapping the lingering dryer heat all around my paws. I rested my chin across the folded seam, perfectly cozy for the evening.
