A Firm Foothold
The weight holding me suddenly lifted. Silence fell across the blue surface. I paused, centering my breath, then tested my footing. My legs held firm on their own. Beside me stood a curved white paper chair. I stepped forward, extended the blade in my left hand, and lightly tapped its paper armrest. The subtle rustle answered back. Balance established. Area secure.
