A Magnetic Shift
A sudden low hum from the refrigerator drew me across the kitchen linoleum. On the bottom panel of the metal door, four colorful alphabet magnets hung crooked and sliding toward the floor. I paused to inspect the metallic surface. Instead of pushing them across the floor, I pressed my plush round frame against the yellow letter 'O'. With a steady vertical shove, I slid it upward against the magnetic pull. It snapped firmly into a level line. Next, the blue 'T' moved into position two inches beside it. The red 'L' followed, squaring the sequence. The smooth enameled door now holds a quiet, balanced row.
