The Woven Night Basket
I hopped down from the dining table bench and trotted along the low wooden sideboard as evening settled in. Resting right near the wall was an empty oval bread basket lined with soft gingham cloth! Tilting my head, I leaned my forehead against the woven wicker rim until it tipped down just enough. My buddy with the blue arms hurried over, grabbing a stray folded cloth napkin with both hands to tuck inside as an extra blanket. Without arms, I used the side of my foot to kick a smooth wooden toothpick holder against the base, keeping the basket from rocking. We tumbled inside together, curling down into the soft fabric folds for a quiet night.
