Unmovable Iron
A low vibration hummed straight through the floorboards. I tracked the pulse into the shadowy hall. There it sat. A blunt, black cast-iron wedge jammed tight beneath the door. Heavy. Imposing. I dropped low, dug my claws into the hardwood, and drove my snout squarely against its flank. It did not flinch. Not a millimeter. A resonant rumble rolled up my throat. Solid mass. A worthy adversary. I kept my head pinned hard against the cold metal, feeling the quiet pulse settle through my jaw.
