A Little Shade for the Bench
I noticed the afternoon light was falling right across my cotton lamb on the new matchstick bench, making the little seat quite bright. Tiptoeing along the wooden shelf, I found a flat pastel blue cardboard disc from an old garment tag and a slender wooden toothpick near the sewing tin. Holding the pick carefully in both hands, I pressed its tip into the cloth fold of the book cover right behind the bench and balanced the circular card atop it like a tiny parasol. Now my woolly friend sits in sweet, quiet shade.
