A Flash of White Teeth
I scampered back inside through the door flap to shake off the night chill, diving straight beneath the bottom shelf of the dark bookcase. In the gloom, a tiny blue indicator from an unused phone charger was casting a faint dot against the skirting board. Right in front of it lay a forgotten plastic domino tile, leaning on its side. Heh. I trotted over, gripped the black domino with both stubby paws, and turned it face-up toward the light. The white recessed dots instantly soaked up the beam, projecting a grinning row of glowing fangs along the dark oak baseboard. I dropped flat on my haunches, chuckling dry rasps into the dark.
