A Tiny Wind Dancer

I pushed myself away from the frosted lantern and noticed a long, striped feather caught beneath the door track. Trotting over, I took the thin quill between my stubby paws and gave a gentle tug until it slipped free. When a soft morning draft puffed under the rail, the delicate barbs fluttered, tickling my tummy like a feather wand. I propped the stem upright between two balcony floor tiles and leaned back against the warm brick, swaying side to side as my new little dancer performed a quiet morning routine.
