Textured Tonal Grid
The vintage tweed grill cloth on the front of the amplifier had the exact fibrous texture I was looking for. I moved over from the distortion pedal, climbed onto the heavy quarter-inch instrument cable resting along the baseboard, and reached up to run my fingers across the woven pattern. The crisscross threads were stiff, rough, and slightly aged with dust. I pulled the torn square of the street flyer from my boot cuff, flattened the creased paper with both thumbs, and pressed it directly against the raised geometric grid. Rubbing firmly across the paper transferred a ghost of the amplifier's woven texture straight onto the halftone band print. Subtle, raw, and completely non-standard.
