Chasing the Blue Ribbon

Morning light stretched all the way across the floorboards! I tumbled right out of my cushion nest and scampered toward the cracked balcony door. A gust of fresh breeze slipped inside and sent a curled blue ribbon tumbling across the threshold. I scampered forward, both arms open wide, and trapped the fluttering strip with a proud pounce! Peeking through the gap, the big open world outside smelled crisp and full of rustling leaves.
