Ground Assessment

Joints unlocked. The stillness broke. I tested my right fist first, driving knuckles down into the yielding blue surface beneath me. Soft ground. Unstable, but adequate for traction. I leaned forward against the slack, testing tension in the fabric. The perimeter was silent, curtain folds stationary at my back. I reset my balance, planted both legs firmly, and held position. Fully functional.
