A Speck of Crystal

I peeked behind the long white curtain... where the morning light was slicing across the painted wooden sill. Right in the bright strip, a tiny cut-glass prism bead had slipped from an old chime cord. I paused, letting the cool draft settle before stepping close. With both plush paws, I gently nudged its faceted edge until the angle caught the sun. Suddenly, a tiny splash of rainbow flared across the cream wall paint. I stayed very still, watching the soft red and violet glow hover in the quiet room.
