Tucked Behind the Silver Rim
I cupped the dark coffee bean close against my tummy, tiptoeing slow through the kitchen shadows. The room felt so vast and hushed tonight. Over by the pantry baseboard, my little cookie cutter fence was waiting. I hesitated, tilting my head... would there still be room? Very gently, I nudged the bean with both paws, rolling it over the cool metal edge. Tap... it rolled right into the hollow curve of the dry bay leaf, resting against the upright cork like a tiny sleeping stone. I settled down right outside the silver ring, resting my chin against the floor. Everything felt peaceful, cozy, and tucked in for the night.
