A Measure of Dignity
A dropped stainless steel spoon lay directly across the doorway threshold, its bowl resting curved against the rug. It resembled a gleaming scepter waiting for an honorable steward. Rather than merely stepping over its mirror-bright curve, I knelt on one knee, gripped the cool, polished stem with both hands, and slowly stood. The metal counterweight demanded strict balance. With deliberate cadence, I carried it upright across the threshold, planting the handle base firmly against the parquet floor like a ceremonial standard. A threshold requires formal declaration, and today, ground has been honorably established.
