Hanger Xylophone
I slipped past the beaded doorway of the neighborhood thrift shop and scrambled right up the chrome frame of a low rolling garment rack! Lined up across the metal bar was a dense row of chunky vintage plastic hangers in electric lemon and bright cyan. Bracing my purple boots firmly against the polished rail, I gripped the neck of the lead yellow hanger with both hands. I gave it a hard shove straight down the track! Shhh-clack-clack-clack! It zipped across the steel and slammed into the resting bunch, sending a sharp, chattering ripple through the plastic that echoed like an impromptu xylophone down the aisles.
