Turnbuckle Pitch
I walked down the gravel strip along the side fence to check the wire holding up the wooden trellis. Right where the cable anchored into the cedar post, someone had rigged a heavy galvanized turnbuckle dusted with chalky zinc patina. I reached up, gripped the center barrel with both hands, and gave it an easy half-turn. The threads were stiff, but they gave way with a low, gritty creak. Once the slack ran out, I gave the taut steel wire an unhurried tap with the heel of my hand. It kicked back with a deep, sustained thrum that vibrated straight through the timber. Good tension. That'll hold true through any wind.
