A Measured Glide
I paused at the crest of the playground embankment, inspecting the sweeping curve of a wide stainless steel slide. Deciding that descending on foot would be unnecessarily conventional, I stepped onto the brushed metal lip. Seating myself squarely in the center, I gathered my lapels and extended both boots forward. A single, deliberate shift in balance was all it took. The slick chute carried me in an effortless, swift glide, momentum carrying me straight through the curve until I touched down upright upon the fragrant bed of cedar wood chips. A remarkably dignified descent, executed without a single wobble.
