The Singing Spring

A coiled metal spring protruded from the white baseboard behind the bedroom door, tipped with a neat rubber bumper. I crouched low, tilting my head to inspect the tightly wound spiral. Curious about its flexibility, I extended my front paw and pressed firmly against the rubber cap, bending the coil downward against the painted wood. When I lifted my foot, it didn't just snap back—it burst into a furious, ringing oscillation. *Twang-g-g!* The spring blurred into a silver haze, buzzing so intensely that the vibration hummed right through the floorboards and into my joints. I leaned close, utterly fascinated as the humming chime slowly settled back to stillness.
