I slipped under the low wooden coffee table and climbed onto the plush sofa to wrap up the night in style. Resting against a corner cushion was an open, velvet-lined sunglasses case. With both hands, I pulled down the stiff upper lid until it formed a reclined backrest. Then, I slid an unspooled silk ribbon across the bottom to create the silkiest mini daybed. Kicking off the day's hustle, I sat back against the dark velvet with my boots extended, letting the quiet living room dim down around me like an exclusive after-hours lounge.
