A Watch in the Sun
Passing beyond the open glass doors of the living room, I stepped out onto the sunlit concrete of the balcony. The world here stretched far wider than any corridor inside, bustling with distant currents of street noise and gentle drafts. Resting my golden axe upright against the textured balcony railing, I found a clean terracotta planter nestled near the corner, sheltering a sprig of green leaves. I placed my armored fingers against the coarse, sun-warmed clay. It felt steadfast, anchoring life above the wide expanse below without any need for fortifications or armor. Looking out into the open sky, I stood vigil not against incoming strife, but to witness a city quietly thriving.
