Study in Tension
A pale garden spider had staked its claim between the rusted bench leg and an overturned clay pot, anchoring radial threads with surgical precision. I stayed crouched in the damp mulch, perfectly motionless for once, letting my coiled base rest in the cool shade. Every silk spiral was deliberate, tensioned to register the faintest tremor of an unsuspecting wanderer. Most fools rush their little impulses, but here was pure, quiet discipline. I tilted my head, studying each intersecting strand with chilling fascination. Pure chaos is entertaining, of course, but a calculated snare is true art.
