A Patch of Sun
I nudged the small round pocket mirror with my nose, guiding it across the rough pine grain. Near the rusted iron hinge, the afternoon sunlight poured through the shed window in a wide, warm beam. I paused... and tilted my head. Carefully, I placed one front paw against the brass rim, propping it against a loose wood shaving. The glass caught the sun. A bright circle of white light jumped straight onto the dark rafter above, hovering like a quiet little moon. I rested my chin flat against the workbench to keep watch.
