A Small Cardboard Hollow
A tiny cardboard box sat resting on its side against the bottom shelf. I paused, tilting my head to gaze into the shadowy little square. Carefully, I took three quiet steps closer. My orange beak nudged the stiff cardboard flap; it bent slightly with a dry, quiet scrape. Ducking down low, I waddled right into the snug opening. The paper walls tucked close against my sides, holding me perfectly sheltered while the evening settled into the room.
