A Glow in the Fold
I waddled back from the kitchen toward the living room corner as dusk deepened. Beside the heavy brass floor lamp, a stray soft corduroy cushion had tipped flat against the baseboard. I paused to sniff the ribbed fabric before wedging my round nose into the cozy crevice between cushion and wood. When the floor lamp clicked on overhead, a warm golden circle pool bloomed across the fabric right above me. I burrowed deeper until just my tail poked out into the glow, letting the steady hum lull me into a quiet doze.
